Hot hot heat, part 2
With guest blogger, Ash!!
Let’s go back to last night’s dinner - it was absolutely AMAZING! After the long ride, we didn’t want to have to travel to Salmon Arm, so we went to the one restaurant in Canoe called the Hive. When having a hard time picking what to order, we asked the waitress for recommendations, and she didn’t have anything - she said the whole menu was fantastic. She was correct - we ordered varying food from salads to Mexican food to Rice bowls / it was all so delicious. We would all recommend it if your ever in Canoe/Salmon Arm.

We ended the night with ice cream (for some of us) and went to the public beach, and witnessed a gorgeous sunset! We even dipped our feet in the water - the temperature was just right.
Waking up and getting ready took a bit longer than usual as we all slept good - well, the best you can sleeping on a thin air mattress on the ground. We each had a cliff bar to get going as breakfast was 25km away, 8km of it being uphill.
Continuing with the fantastic meals, we had breakfast in Enderby at Hungry Jack’s. not only was the food good, but the prices and ambiance were also great.
Continuing on our way at about 11, the heat was already blaring down. Combine the heat with the horrific bike lane, we stopped shortly after enderby at the log barn. We walked around and sampled some jams and hot sauces, and drank some of the Emperors’s cold brew coffee.
The pit stop allowed us to continue on all the way until Armstrong. We turned into town, and were headed in what seemed to be the wrong direction. Having no option except to assume the Emperor knew what he was doing, we went through Armstrong and onto the beautiful Otter Lake road - sometimes it is worth trusting the him.
Even though there wasn’t a true bike lane, and the heat was still unbearable, the minimal traffic and awesome scenic view made it totally worth it - it was so much better than the highway.
Otter Lake was beautiful, and after a few difficult hills, we made it to North Vernon/Spallumcheen, and Dad took us onto the Old Kamloops Road. The pavement was dreadful. Even though they have been repairing the road for ages, it seemed hardly improved. But again, minimal traffic and solid scenery, made it worth it (or at least according to the Emperor).
We arrived in Vernon, somewhat hungry, and stopped for snacks and water in Vernon, and kept on until the Outboard pub against Okanagan Lake. Our early super/late lunch was ok - my sandwich was very tasty, but the Emperor’s asian Cobb salad was not well liked. However, the super delicious dessert made it worth it.
10km until Ellison Provincial Park and our rest for the night. Awaiting tomorrow night when I can finally rest in my own bed!
