Moving on
Leaving the cozy confines of Leavenworth in late June, I headed south out of town towards Blewett Pass. It was good to be in the saddle again, but disappointing to have left ash, Jonas, and Ginette behind with Rene and Huegette.
90km to Ellensburg, a hot shower, and real bed for the first time in a week. 90km including Blewett pass. I'll admit I had not researched this leg much in advance of the trip, maybe it's good that I hadn't. Here is me climbing:
Here is me climbing further:
Here is a treehouse, and a river (you're welcome Steven):

History of Blewett:
And finally, the summit!
At the summit a guy collecting wood shook my hand and said "I don't know how you did it but God bless you." Yes indeed.
On to the descent where in my head I predicted 100+ km/hr, passing cars and logging trucks while their jaws drop. Instead, I struggled to push 20km/hr on the descent on account of an extreme headwind.
Exhausted, I stopped for lunch at Twin Peaks Dine... err, Liberty Cafe. The Liberty Cafe, where every question, statement, and compliment is greeted with "uhhhh huhhh". The Liberty Cafe, where if isn't Fox News it's Fake News. The Liberty Cafe, home of Cabbage Patch soup and and $6 Tuna Salad sandwich. For all it's idiosyncrasies I was quite impressed. They even offered to fill my water bottles.
On to my old nemesis Hwy 97S, a short steep climb then on to the Ellensburg Super 8.
Never in my cycling life have I experienced a tailwind like I did all the way to Ellensburg. 50km/hr gusts at your back, my saddle bags acting as sails, I DID NOT PEDAL FOR FIVE MILES!!! Amazing! Until you need to head north from your hotel to get something to eat.
I'll leave you with the elevation profile of today's ride. Uhhhhhh huhhhhh.

No longer will they have to gaze into the trap set by nemesis. How ironic; the man on the side of the road blesses the Emperor. But if he knew what this man had taken his family through... he would have cursed him (and stabbed his bike tires with a rusty pick-axe).
I leave you with the words from a tune written by an American legend; perhaps it will comfort this Canadian scoundrel:
Drive on, it don't mean nothin'
My children love me, but they don't understand...
And I got a woman who knows her man.
Drive on, it don't mean nothin', it don't mean nothin'
Drive on.
His family knows him, but they don't understand. It is better they did not!
GO K-FAM!!!! Impressive venture on your own, Cornbread!! Splendid!!
